University of Leeds | Two PhD Fellowships in Environmental Humanities

Full time, fixed term for 36 months, October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2018 (start date to be no later than 1 January 2016)

Host supervisors: Dr Fiona Becket, Dr George Holmes, Prof. Graham Huggan

Note: Applicants who have lived or worked for more than 12 months in the last three years in the United Kingdom are not eligible to apply for the positions based in the United Kingdom according to the Marie Curie ITN regulations.

The two successfully appointed PhD fellows will be expected to do research in the following pre-designated area:

The PhD fellows will examine current and historical water-related crises in Europe and globally within the larger historical framework of natural disaster; will analyse their cultural components; and will look at the communities created through such disasters and at the paradoxical capacity of flood, drought, and other natural disasters to produce more sustainable models for collective living, in Europe and elsewhere.
